Flight Sim for PS2?

Just an idea, for better, much better, graphics, and good frames no matter what.

not really. its not at all suited for PS2 or any console. remember that its 3 disks large and ps2 isnt really powerful enough to run it.
if they made it possible i would still prob buy it though:)

I think a good flight sim would be an excellent idea for all the PS2/X-Box Console enthusiasts who don't have access to a PC.
I am surprised there hasn't been one produced for them up until now?
Most of my Console owning friends have no interest in owning a PC, indeed most of them couldn't afford one...!
The PC and Console are two different markets for two different users.
My lads have both

Yeah I know, but, I read somewhere that Sony said that their next PS, PS3, when released, maybe in round 2004/5, will be around 100-200 :o times faster than PS2, which sounds ridiculous but that's what they said.  Funny enough.

P.S. the big advantage of the Console is that it is transportable.
You can take it on holiday with you, and still play all your games, the PC poses a big problem in that area...LOL...!

True. Recently a co-worker invited me to a little 'console' party where people bring their PSs and hook 'em up and play multiplayer. A ton of fun but I still get confused over the darn controller!* ;D

*I'm very used to my Keyboard, joystick, and mouse for playing games! lol ;D

cheers

I don't think it will work. You need far more commands to play a flight simulator than is really avaliable on a console. Also console users seem to like other games or there would already be flight sims on them.

I agree with woodlouse on this. Console users seem to like other types of games than a simulator. It would just be to hard to make a realistic flight sim on a console with the limited number of buttons too. I just don't think it would work.

It was done with the PS1 (sort of). Wing Over 2 which had nothing to do with the original, didn't let you do anything until you grauated from a flight school after about 15 lessons. I had it and compleated it and got bored fast, the combat was too easy, Aim 9s and Aim 54s behaved identically and the AI never opened fire on you >:(.
The original was an arcady shoot em up thingy, you had teams of 4 in a flying circius fighting each other. great fun ;D. 4 or 5 rounds and you win the season trophy and buy new aircraft and equipment.

I would love to see a flight simulator for the PS2, of course it would have to be simplified a bit, but I know I would buy it. My brother doesn't own a PC and he was watching me fly around Hawaii the last time he was here and he said he wished there was a flight sim for the PS2 also.
There will always be the diehard PC gamers which I am, and the diehard console gamers which I am to a lesser extent, but it all depends on what I am into at the time. But that kind of goes back to the fact that the games for PC are much better looking and a lot more involved, and the choices of subject matter are more varied.
But there have been times when I would be glued to my PS2 for months at a time, (I expect this to happen again when Gran Turismo 4 comes out.)
I did enjoy Ace Combat 4 on the PS2, closest thing to a flight sim I know of for that system.
So to me, it's all good!
Still no linked images allowed around here Paz! Naughty...

I'm afraid that by the time they siplified it to work with the control limitations on a console it would be so much less than FS2002 that I wouldn't want it. It's the complexity that gives FS2002 the realism. Without that it's just an arcade game.

Of course I'm a PC gamer to the core and quite biased.  ;D

i totally disagree with the idea, not enough buttons etc, BUT i thought of something, what if microsoft brang out there own "PC Console" with a small keyboard and mouse dedicated for games only, which hooks up to a tv (nice and portable unlike the PC as fozzer said earlier  :)) just imagine it, playing microsoft flight sim (or any other microsoft game) on a widescreen TV, or maybe even a projector!..possibilities are endless  ;D

its not so much the control aspect i have a problem with, keyboards for consoles are nothing new the dreamcast has one i believe, the other thing is, it wouldnt goto playstation anyway, X-box would be the only console likely to get it being its a microsoft game. like i said its going to require a more powerful console to run before it would be possible they have everything else to make it possible, keyboards joysticks, i think a mouse is available aswell
