Now they went and made me mad...

Postby John Elrod » Sun Jun 01, 2003 7:51 pm

OK Columbia SC is a mess in FS2002 so I intedn ot fix it, heheh sounds like the Battle cry of the truly ignorant doesn't it heheh.

I have experience building terrains for Warbirds II and III and Dawn of Aces but never MS FS so I'm not sure what I am getting into but what the hey.

Some of the changes I would like to be able to make are....  Move the Capitol building where it belongs.  Add Willliams Bryce Stadium, 2nd largest college stadium in the SE and it's "poof" missing.  Realign the buildings in downtown to properly match the road pattern, and add my high school and College of course, and maybe the place where we used to go parking after fotball games.. Oops soorry I digress.

Anyway, can anyone answer the following questions for me.

1) How difficult is it to build / edit terrains in FS?

2) What's the best program for doing it.

3) Am I off my rocker for even trying?

4) Can you do this without having to leanr a new language?

Thanks in advance for all warnings: Jo ;Dhn

LOL John.

You don't need to learn a new language but you do need to learn how to use the tools.

Do a search for Derek Leung's FS Scenery Creator. It's freeware, very good, and comes with built in tutorials.

See how you get on. :)

Thanks Tipster.

As John Belushi once said.  I'm on a mission...... a mission from God.

and just for the record, Yes I do need a life.  Just to prove it last nigth I was up all night napping at my desk as I flew a 747-400 from CHS AFB to HNL. 8.5 hours and after staying awake, mostly, for the whole flight I was so tired when I landed I forgot to press the brakes and rolled right off into the Ocean and crashed.  I was to tired to swim ashore and went down with the ship.

Hahaha!

I'm sure you know you can accelerate the flight and skip the boring part, right?

You can accelarate flight time?  Well I guess I am as dumb as my wife said I was. Hehehehe.

::pulling the pamphlet out now to look at the key commands.::

Hoochie Mama on the round the world flight.  I don't know which is more impressive, the flights or the documentation and web presentation.

How man ytotals flight hours do you think it will take you to fly?

Now I am off to figure out this editor thingie.

Just learning FSSC myself. You might also want to download Easy Object Designer. I just recently figured out how to make people and my next task is buildings.

You'll also probably need a good photo editing program. Paint Shop Pro is one of the best (and pretty expensive), I make do with Photo Express.
