Coast or texture problems

Postby junotom » Tue May 13, 2003 4:19 am

Hello Everybody,

I realized a problem with coastlines at Puerto Rico area with the default FS scenery.

Does anyone knows this problem?

Thanks a lot.

hello and welcome, to create an image, go to www.simviation.com/yabbupload.html then upload your pic (make sure it is within 800 x 600 pixels and under 100 kilobytes) then in this msg box to post up a thread do this [img]www.simviation.com/yabbupload/filename.jpg[/ img] (make sure the "[/ img]" is put together) i cannot do that because it will come up that ive been trying to post up a pic, and it will show a red X, thus not being able to show you the code..

Hi junotom,

If you did successfully upload it, it's not called "coast.jpg". The url is case sensitive, so if your pic was entitled "cOAsT.jPG" then that's exactly how you would have to type it in the url for it to show.

In an effort to resolve the problem, I'd try Coast Line Maker V2.0. by Iain Murray which allows you to alter the default coastline layout.

I can't put up the pic, I dunno what is the problem (the pic below 100k and the res is 800*600) the name is "coast.jpg", the link is OK I think. So everything seems to be OK, but I can't see the pic  ???

Your image is named coast.JPG not coast.jpg. Here it is.

Hi all,

Nice one Doug - well spotted. I notice as well that junotom has been putting too much into his image URL.

You don't need /cgi-bin/yabb etc

It's just

http://www.simviation.com/yabbuploads/yourimage.jpg

Back to the problem. Looks as though M$ didn't get round to doing the finishing touches of that bit of scenery. The land/coastline mesh seems just to finish at the end of the 'whole' LOD cells in the area.

You can do it yourself - you need local maps and the knowhow to use Coastlinemaker or some other progs that are now available and CellGrid, in conjunction with a background image of the correct scale taken from your map. There is a learning curve I'm afraid plus a lot of trial and error while you're learning.

Might be better just to fly elsewhere if this all sounds a bit too much.... ;D

PS

Someone may already have done it!
