ok now i'm pee'vd off

Postby Craig. » Thu Apr 24, 2003 12:43 pm

ok i have a dc10 that refuses to take off before hitting 280knots. i have tried adding extra to the thrust in cfg file and even when the flaps are full it takes till 280 to leave the ground, any suggestions, and just so you know it uses the entire runway and prob 1000 feet of grass in detroit, now i have been through detroit in a dc10 a few times and i dont ever remember giving the neighbours there a free lawn cut so why is it happening in the sim
thanks for any help

There are some great DC10s out there with I'm afraid some lousy fde's. I got flamed a little bit just after I joined the forums for mentioning it!! I got quite a few all same model (Spantax, SAS, Iberia ??) and edited the fde. There have been some updated fde's uploaded (not by me)

Check the amount of fuel on board.  Drop it to 50% and
you'll have a much easier time taking off.  I saw this suggestion on another forum and it worked for me.

Try to trim it up some. I have a few planes that I needed to trim up to about 2 for the thing to go airborne

Ihave had this problem but with BAC 1-11. Advised to reduce the full and empty weight in aircraft cfg, also add thrust and it works a treat now. Check back down the forum. Regards,

I don't want to change the subject too much here, but by making a fuel stop, is there a way to do it as part of the flight?  Or are you talking about ending the flight at NYC, then creating a new one from NYC to L.A.?  I've always just set it to keep the aircraft running if I run out of fuel.

I'm not sure If ATC would let you land if you created an IFR flightplan with an airport halfway as a waypoint. Somebody would have to verify that

You're right Andrew - you can't.

However, what you could do is file two IFR flight plans. The first to NYC (or where ever), land, re-fuel, and then file a new flight plan to your destination. You may have to re-load the flight there though. I've never tried it.

Alternatively, you could file a VFR plan all the way using NYC as a waypoint and land there. ATC let you do anything you like on a VFR plan. :)
