Rudder Control

I'm wondering if anyone else has this problem. On the 777-400 Boeing, the rudder doesn't work. Such as when taxing straight, then I come to a turn, it turns about for two seconds, then straightens itself out again.  :( Can't complete a turn. If it is only me, any suggestions on how to fix it.

try to switch off auto rudder in the settings.

This may sound like a really stupid question, but are you throttling up in the turn?  If you taxi down a straightaway at 20kts, then slow nearing the turn, and are in the turn at 5kts, the plane slows down.  Unless you turn up the thottle to compensate for this loss of momentum, your plane will stop, and, making you believe your rudder isn't working...

I dunno.. It's something I had to correct when I was a student pilot  ;)

I used to think the same thing.

I don't know what you use, (stick, or pedals), but, don't turn the stick all the way, or don't give it full right or left pedel.  If your twist it all the way to the stop, it won't turn. Just stay slow, and don't turn all the way.

OH RIGHT! I used to do that

In the default triple 7 for FS2002pro, full right or left steering makes the nose wheel go too far, and you end up going in a straight line and not going anywhere, just putting a lot of stress on the gear..  I'm almost positive there's a way to fix this in FSUIPC..

I f you look at the 777 from spot view and use full rudder, you will notice that the nose gear goes to a ninety degree angle and that the plane goes the opposite way of which you turn. I'm not sure if it is a bug or if this is true of real 777s, but you just have to learn to cope with it.

Airplanes are not cars, they are difficult to handle in the ground. When taxing keep low sped in the turns, 10Kts, use the spot view and try to keep the front wheel in the yellow line, if you still have the problem help the plane to turn using the engines, increase the power of your left engine to go right and vice versa.

the nose wheel should turn
90' use L or R brake and L
or R throttle to turn very sharp
also use brakes to steer at
low speed

Keep in your mind that they are also big and heavy so they have a big inertia if you are going in a direction at certain speeds even if you turn the wheel the plane will follow a strait line.

pulling back on the stick lightens
the load on the nose wheel and
pushing  it forward increases the
load and the available traction

sometime when going slow,
push the stick to and frow
and watch the nose,
just a little up and down
x
