Yesterday (April 29), I logged 6.7 hours sim time, and 1 hour Real flight time. Not bad for one day

So far, only 9.8 hours of simtime this week. If I keep this up, i'll have more then 15 hours by saturday night ;D

I try to get in about 1 - 2 hrs at night after the kids are off the computer - I still haven't done the trans-atlantic or Boston to LAX yet - Have to wait for a real rainy weekend day when the outdoor activities are cancelled -
Just peeked rain forecast for Sunday  hmmmm

Wouldn't it be great if we could earn real frequent flier mileage based on hours spent "flying?" Hmmmm.

I know what you mean. Chores, school, working, and misc things that come up in life all tend to get in the way of our virtual lifes ;D

Well I would have to say about 2 hours on average a night. sometimes more. Many times I will do "short" flights, take some screenshots, and edit them for upload to share with you guys. My flying time usually is after 8pm. My wife and I put our daughter to sleep and I usually wind up "flying" and my wife usually ends up watching "Lifetime"!!  ;)
Recently she has been saying that I am Addicted to it and she does not understand why a grown man would sit in front of a computer all night and "pretend" he is flying. She also dosn't understand why I would be on the computer "talking" to people about flying, she thinks it is rediculous! I have tried to explain that it is a way for me to "unwind" and relax. Hey, she watches TV at the end of the day, why can't she understand that I am enjoyng a hobby at the end of my day?? Don't get me wrong, I balance my time very well between my Family and fun. I am building my 2nd story on my house on weekends and some work durring the week,(if I can be quiet, baby sleeping!!), working a full time DAY job all week long, spending any time I can with my wife and daughter when not working....etc etc....
It's only a few hours a night here and there. I don't know, maybe I will just Print this thread and let her read it. Maybe then she will see that I am not the only one who enjoys the common interest of flying. There are many of us here, from young to old, real pilots and "wanna be's", after all, I almost had my 1st flying lesson before we got married but as you know, very exspensive when trying to save for a wedding! So for now this is the closest I can come to enjoying something that I can't do in the "real" world.......flying.
Sorry for rambling on, just needed to vent alittle.

Thanks...Dave

hi Dave,

You should explain to your wife that using the simulator everyso often instead of going out and actually getting flight lessons is saving an incredible amount of money. I have to remind my mom of this often ;D

Also, the flight simulator is actually teaching you things that you can use when you ever do start getting lessons and could potentionally save money. With all the time i've spent on the simulator, I recently went up with a friend and he was quite surprised at how much I already knew, he also told me that the simulator has helped quite a bit ;)

Good grief, what a sad life I must now lead ;D I am on this computer at least 40-50 hours a week :) Whilst the wife watches the soaps, I fly. When she has gone to bed, I fly. And yes I do have a GREAT marriage and an understanding wife. We have two lovely kids, but when we found out what caused them, we soon packed that up, so I fly ;D My first date with her? I took her to Farnborough Air Display 39 years ago, so she knew what to expect. ;) She has been thru plastic models, balsa models, Radio Control, and computer flying for 39 years now. THATS what I call a wife, and that is what I call flying ;D ;D

Lucky you....I can't even get her to clean out my "cockpit"!!!  LOL LOL ;D
Just kidding. My marriage is great also it is just that she can't sse "it's purpose"!!  But I guess I don't see ANY purpose in her watching "Lifetime for Women"!! What a waste of time...maybe she can learn to play "Microsoft Flight Attendant Simulator"!!!  HAHA
