How much time do you spend flying?

Postby BFMF » Sun Apr 27, 2003 12:50 pm

I usually spend around 10 - 15 hours a week flying in FS2002.

Back when I was in my learning curve I spent about 6 hours A DAY - 5pm to 11pm.  Now I think up a fun flight - sightseeing, a new technique or ac - and just fly it.  Sometimes it's an hour, others it may be 3 hours.  I don't fly every day anymore.

15 hours a week would be over 2 hours a day, so I'll go with 10-15.

During term time I normally get about 5 hours a week done. During holidays I can easily knock off about 8 hours a day without trying!

I don't spend too much time flying since I can't really have the settings on, let alone on full!  So there isn't much point to it, unless you're totally addicted to flying, it is difficult to fly a lot on my system, but it doesn't really bother me since I'm logging more ours doing the real thing at the moment!  It's much better!!!

That'd be me. ;D

Even without the RTW stuff, I must put that in easily with panel, gauge and query testing.

I might start keeping my log book as I've no idea how much time I spend flying at the moment LOL.

Yup, about 5-10 hours weekly sounds right. Mostly projects, like alphabetic state to state in the US (Boeings), member state to member state in the EU (Airbuses), and now, in homage to FSTipster, a RTW east to west in a small personal jet.

My wife reckons that it's a viable alternative to golf!

I certainly was logging more than 20 hours per week, but now with all the time I have been spending on my new website logging my misadventures up to date, I haven't flown at all for a few days.
Still no linked images allowed around here Paz! Naughty...

As I am saddled wit a very low attention span I have had to say 3-5 hours a week. :(

I would like to fly more but other commitments and the above mentioned attention deficit mean that I spend a huge amount of time tweaking and downloading stuff and very little time flying.  As a wise forum member said to me a few months back, it's the old "fish or cut bait" debate.

I normaly log 40hrs+ per week.Usualy when I get home from work Ill spend a couple hrs flying around localy, then after dinner Ill load up a flight "across the pond"that takes 6-8hrs,(i.e:JFK to Templehoff),set the autopilot & go.That way I can start my day with a good cup'o joe, a decent, approach and landing. It gets me in the proper state of mind for my day at the"salt mine" I guess Im a good candidate for a stay in the"rubber room", HUH? ;D ;D
To bad I cant make a living out of this, but it would probably kill me.

Being almost house bound, I have no life.  Which is a good thing because I get to fly and forget everything else.
Bottom line, I fly no less than 5 hours a day, sometimes more.  MS Flight Simulator Series has given me the reason to get up in the morning. And THAT is a good thing.

When I'm out of school (i.e. summer) I spend about 4 to 5 hours a day, so about 28-35 hours a week. I love and am addicted to flying.
