Backing FS2002 up?

For the 2nd time this year I am having to reinstall my entire FS2002 + addons.  This is what I hate most about FS2002 is reinstalling everything.  The reason I am having to reinstall is because I did not back up my scenery cfg file and it became corrupted after installing ISD Project LIEO 2003 - Olbia Costa Smeralda.  Everything worked fine before I installed this.  After the install it said that line #100 of my scenery cfg was corrupted.  Now this was not the bit of good news I was looking for.  I do not want to blame ISD for this because I have other sceneries of theirs and they installed fine.  Just goes to show, never install directly into your FS folder.  Always use a temp folder.

Now to my question.  Is there a way to reinstall FS2002 with out having to reinstall all of my addons?  Basically is there a way to repair the corrupted files so that I would not have to go to all of the trouble of going through all my CDs to put the addons back in?

I have learned my lesson.  Always back up your cfg files!

use a text editor with line numbers (textpad) and have a look at what is wrong...

the aircraft folder is easy to backup as is the AI traffic

On further examination, the relevant entry in your scenery.cfg (which is part of the default setup) should look like this:

[Area.100]
Title=Munich
Remote=
Active=TRUE
Required=FALSE
Layer=100
Local=scenedb\cities\munich

If it does, the installation has changed something in there. Make syre that the folder still exists under the name munich in the location in the scenery.cfg and that it contains scenery and texture folders. The scenery folder should also contain a .bgl file previously named Munich.bgl. This may have changed depending on the installation. There should, however, be at least one .bgl file in there.

Check the scenery.cfg file out first. If it doesn't match, forward it to me with the details of the contents of the Scenedb/cities/munich folder.

It's difficult to tell at this point whether it's simply a corrupt scenery.cfg or your scenery files themselves are corrupt.

If you have AFCAD 1.4, run the "Scan bgl files  for problems" option from the menu. There'll be clues in there.

You can always move your Gauge,sound, effect, and aircraft directories to a new FS2002 installation without losing anything. I've done this several times

Doesent this eat up alot of HD space,which will slow the program down? The reason I ask is Ive gone through the unistall/reinstall more times to count,but allways keeping in mind space usage.Do you only keep these files temporarily while you un&re,and then move them all back?
