Taxi problems

Postby hennjj » Sat Apr 26, 2003 1:08 am

I am just now starting out with MSFS.  I am taxing around but for some reason my plane always turns a hard left, does anyone know how to fix this problem.  Also I am wondering what or how do I install correctly planes that I have downloaded from this website, so that I can fly, or at least try to fly these new planes.?

Hi Hennjj, welcome to Simviation!

OK, as regards the aircraft tuning hard to the left, it sounds as though either your joystick is configured wrong in FS2002, or it may be faulty.

A good way to test this is to go to "Control Panel" in windows and find "Game controllers".

Find the "Properties" button and have a look in there, this will give you access to the calibration for the joystick, and allow you to see if is malfunctioning.

Also, it is worth bearing in mind that due to the tourque produced my the engines on aircraft, they will pull to the left as you apply power, so you have to compensate with rudder or trim.

As for installing aircraft, there is an excellent tutorial here at Simviation: http://www.simviation.com/acinstall.htm

Other tutorials can also be had here:http://www.simviation.com/fsdhelp.htm

Hope this of some help,

Ric B.

There are also issues with some joysticks (logitech especially) that produce a "spike" of full rudder sometimes.  FSUIPC installed will eliminate most of the problems with this, at least it has on my machine.

If your Joystick checks out OK, then it could be that if you're flying a prop aircraft, what's happening is the result of engine torque. If your Realism settings are toward the upper end of the slider, you'll get that resulting torque pull to the left.
Simply lower the Realism setting, a little.

I downloaded and tried the fsuipc program, but all it does weather and traffic.  Is there any other program that might help my taxi problem?  Also if this helps my joystick is a Microsoft Sidewinder 3D Pro.
