Canuck Goes RTW!!!!

Postby Cherokee_6 » Wed Apr 23, 2003 2:13 pm

Well here it goes!! ;D

Inspired by the efforts of those who have and are currently embarking (Tipster ;)) on their RTW trips, I have now started one of my own.

I have created my own site to keep track of the details and where I have gone.

Feel free to check it out at http://canuckgoesrtw.tripod.com/

Please realize that this project is still in the works but I felt it was good enough to let you all know about it. I have completed Leg 1 successfully... ;D and the pics are posted.

Also, it is good to note that the plane I used for Leg1 WILL be repainted and is currently in the works. (Baron 58 ).

Any suggestions or ideas of where to go are greatly appreciated. The details of my flight plan are on the site as well.

I would like to thank Tipster for his suggestions with getting this going and of course the Baron Panel!!! ;D ;D ;)

Good luck, its a real tough undertaking you're going for! I think Tipster has the most comprehensive list of things to do and places to visit!

Oh, I thought you were going RTW in a Canuck.

Now that would be something to watch.  ;)

Have fun and if you get the chance check out Nepal. The mountain scenery is great there.

After spending a month exploring the U.S., I finally started my RTW trip back in mid March, I left out of San Diego and stopped in Hawaii which is kind of nice, since then I have explored the islands of the south pacific, New Zealand, Australia (sydney is nice), most of the Islands of Indonesia, Maylasia (the tallest building in the world is in Kuala Lumpur, but thats about all), I've been all over Southeast Asia and didn't see much worth mentioning, I am currently in Hong Kong, which is quite nicely represented and I suggest for anyone traveling RTW it is worth a visit.
Although I don't have a website or anything, I have been keeping a journal of my travels, some of my exploits are quite entertaining as I am not nor do I claim to be a pilot, so I do have the occasional crash or as in Tahiti,  I landed a bit too far down the runway and ended up in the drink before I could come to a stop, I sometimes take risks that no serious pilot would dare.
But I am having a great time exploring the world, if I knew how to create a website maybe I would publish my notes to the web, I'm sure there are those that would be interested and get a good laugh, others would think I was a clown.
I really am trying to be a good pilot and learn all the equipment and how to fly properly, it's coming together with experience, I'm learning all the time, and everything I learn makes it easier to achieve great approaches and landings, I always found it easy to fly, landing is the hard part.
I say enjoy your trip and most of all have fun. 8)

Having fun is whats its all about!  I am sure there would be some interested in seeing and reading about your travels...you should post some screenshots of some of you flights in the "Raw Screenshots" forum and give us a little reading about your experiences!

Good luck with it!! And thanks for the tips on where the interesting spots are ;D

This falls in line with what I suggested in the "Suggestions for these forums " forum.
http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=forum;action=display;num=1049130329
As you can see it never got much interest :'(

But I think there is more and more people who are starting their own adventure of RTW flights and it would be nice to have a single location to post the pics and the stories of strictly completed flights from one location to another...(just my thoughts)

Cherokee,
I just checked out your site, very cool, great screenshots. Unfortunately I haven't taken any shots on my trip.
I have a few questions for you though, what plane are you using? the panel is awesome, is it freeware or payware or did you build it yourself? and, if I wanted to make a website of my own, how would I go about it?
