Collision detection. . .

Postby Epic » Wed Apr 23, 2003 6:32 pm

I've noticed one of FS2002's idiosyncracies.  Everytime I meet the ground at "greater-than-safe" speeds, I pass right through the ground a few feet.  Then, throw physics out the window, it's usually random what happens next.  Usually, after my entire plane is invisible under the ground, it shoots out of the ground at odd angles like some gigantic earthworm spit it out.  Is this normal??  It even happened to me on this last landing with a 737-400 (see image).

Also, the "Flying the 737" tutorial seems to be a bad link in the tutorials section.  Any other resources out there?  Thanks.

And since (for some reason) Tripod doesn't allow me to link to their images in a post, you can view it for yourself at the following URL:

Obviously, Tripod is useless and I can't show you my screen captures...but just picture your average jumbo jet stationary and tilted 30 degrees so half of the left wing sinks under the pavement.

A lot of the problem has to do with the models people build... some crash, some sink, and others bounce!

Then there are those that function correctly.

I figured as much, but this has happened to me with EVERY aircraft I've flown.  (All of them default FS2002 aircraft).
