Most amazing landing

Postby ozzy72 » Mon Apr 14, 2003 3:25 pm

I was just wondering what you classed as your most remarkable landing in FS2k2.
I've got 2 memorable ones, a Seafire 47 in a thunderstorm at night with 80' crosswinds, and I snagged the 1st wire on the carrier, and my Tiger Moth in a crosswind so strong that it blew me off the runway after touchdown (I only had 1% fuel left), and I ended up between 2 trees without a contact! Amazing isn't the word after 5.5 hours on the stick! No AP!!!!

Any landing in which I hit the runway, and not destroy the airplane is a memorable one fore me.  ;)

My most memorable landing was actually one that went wrong!

It was a 767-300 into Chicago, and I forgot to put the gear down. Needless to say I slid the entire length of the runway - and then some. The only time I've ever playes FS2002 and actually been shocked and panicked!

Meigs, default learjet. Me being me, I came in WAY TOO FAST, it was in multiplayer so someguy witnessed it too, anyway I hit the ground, pretty nice, but way too fast, so I "jammed" the rudder full right and I did a 180* degree spin and stopped nicely, a lot of the runway was black. :D

The first one  is when I had FS 5.1. I had a Northwest 747 (my first heavy) that I just could not get to land correctly. After about 5 tries I walked away and had a few suds. I came back and landed the darn thing perfectly. Much like the pilots that got busted from NW airlines. The other one was just last night. I attemped to land my ERJ-145 at SESM. (the "strip in the hole"). I hit hit runway about 1/2 way down and at 220mph. Stopped it right at the wall

One of my first mulitplayers on FS2k.
I was in a 777 and (being the 15yr old amature who never flown anything upto then ::) :P) approched the rwy far too fast without flaps. I got a rwy intrusion a few feet away from where i was aiming to touchdown, A Sopwith camel. Cos of my speed i bounced off the tarmac... flew over the camel, landed again, slammed the breaks and stoped cm's away from the edge of the other side! :o

Hey Loomex, your little icon on the left, what is it of?
Well anyway, my best landing is with a bombardier. I was coming is nice and slow, right before I touched the ground I pulled up and I was going along the runway about 2 inches off the ground, then finally touched.  ;D

I was once flying acrossed North America in a concorde and I lost all my systems. Electronics, radios, everything was out. I found a moderately large international airport. Since I couldn't get the undercarrage down, I slid the whole length of the runway sparks flying everywere and into a hillside past the airport. Let's just say I lost the aircraft! ;D

Mine was pretty recent. A little airport in Pakistan. Mountains 14,000 ft on all sides and the airport is 4,000 ft. in about a three or four mile long valley. Runway however isn't paralell with the long axis of the valley. I brought the King Air in over the mountains and then had to drop all the way down to pattern height to land.

Guasipati in my last leg. I'm still amazed I got down in one piece.

It was a night landing with no navaids apart from the GPS in pitch darkness. (no waypoints set).

Kind of like doing an IFR landing with the hood up in the cockpit and the radios turned off LOL.

Hey Loomex, your little icon on the left, what is it of?

That my friend is what happens when you are a cocky pilot and think you can fly a B-52 like an F-15. That B-52h crashed about .5 seconds after that picture at Fairchild AFB in Washington state.

;DMy first flight and my first landing in the default cessna  lol.  Took the whole length of the runway, the grass, between trees, a lot of banging around and when I finally stopped it was on the side of a hill, she gently rolled down the hill backwards and stopped with the tail in the water, and the engine was still runnin'  Wish I had pictures of that one.  It was so realistic, I had to get my wife to give me mouth to mouth resuscitation and administer first aid after.  lol   I have gotten better since then, but whats that old saying "You never forget your first"!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D

Really? When did that happen? Fairchild AFB is only a couple hours from where I live
