If what you say is correct, I have no problem personally with the entire thread being removed. However, doing so is not going to plug the biggest gap:
the information came from websites that the US government contributed photographs to, included in the articles with the directions. If they were seriously trying to keep the location a secret, I doubt that they'd have done that. They clearly know what's up there.
It makes a bit of a mockery of "classified" if the U.S. government are contributing photographs to a site that contains text clearly defining the position.
I found that site (and given what you've said, I won't quote the URL) by submitting a search engine request with the keywords "Camp David".A far more likely route to be taken by someone wishing to discover it's location wouldn't you agree? I'm sure you can find it yourself using the same method as easily as I did. It would seem to me that the site in question poses a far greater risk to National security than my post.
Aside of which, Camp David is smack bang in the middle of a public National Park with public campsites around the perimeter. Not exactly the most secretive location in the World.
You can see my point can't you. Thousands of people every year camp right next door to the front gate and perimeter fence. It's not exactly information available only to people with sufficient security clearance.
Obviously, I had no wish to threaten anyone's security by posting the above.
I said it before and I meant it. If this post can really be considered a threat to security, then it ought to be removed. But so should all the other sites that provide exactly the same information freely available across the internet, with more pertinant search keys attached.
Particularly the one that the U.S. government itself contributed to.
