for what planes??? because i find most runways adiquate(sp?) for the planes that use them day to day in the real world. heathrows pleanty long for all planes. where as my other haunts like bristol and tupelo are only good for planes upto the 757 and A310's and 20's

as for being lengthend i believe there are a few programs that can be used but you should ask around the design forum for that

I've found that sometimes the runways can be too short for take-off in some planes, but then I realized that starting without a full load of fuel helped me take off.

And they're only too short on landing if you're not landing in the right place/using the reverse thrust/using the brakes/using the spoilers!

If you try to land a Lear on a 500 foot grass strip,, that could be a problem  :o

With practice,  you can land a Cessna 172 in a 300 foot clearing between trees (full flaps and a little head-wind  ;)  )

You could always try the space shuttle landing strip in Florida.

Andrew, where's the fun in that.  I'm going right out to land a Lear on a 500 foot grass strip.  Empty tanks, full flaps - what's the stall speed on that thing anyway?

Cab - I'm talking about landing.  By the way, anyone know where there's a 500 ft grass strip?  The shortest I could find was 1800.

Hi,

You don't say if your problem is take-off or landing. Most of the replies here are discussing take-off.

If you find the runways too short when landing, you are coming in much too fast. You need to pull back on power to get the plane as slow as possible before beginning descent.
