Yes it is - but if you want to get into 'air' file tampering you're talking a wierd art that very few understand.... it's not even worth going into here.

Your best bet is to replace your air file with another one from an existing heli where someone else has done the work.

I know there is a Wetsland Lynx available (could be for FS2000 but that shouldn't present any problem in Fs2002)

The recent Blue Thunder may well also fly pretty fast  8) ... there was also another fantasy heli that flew obove 200 but I can't remember which.. wouldn't be hard to find...

1st back up the existing 'air' file (inside the main aircraft folder (simply rename it- like putting a '1' in front of it) )

Then copy the new air file into the folder & rename it to the original 'air' file - exactly .... & go fly....  .

It's worth finding a heli that performs to your standards before you do this otherwise you're waisting your time.

He means the airfile (.air). The config doesn't do anything for the engine. There's a program called AirEd that will do what you want, you can find it here in the utilities section. Pete's suggestion is by far the easiest, but you'll end up with a helo that flies excactly the same as the one you copied from.

What does this do then, if anything?

[piston_engine]
power_scalar=1.000
cylinder_displacement= 91.700
compression_ratio= 8.000
number_of_cylinders= 12
max_rated_rpm= 2700.000
max_rated_hp= 500.000     <---------------------------

Hi,
you want the .air file editors from:

http://perso.wanadoo.fr/hsors/FS_Soft/fsairfile.html

including AirEd but AAM is newer.

and the airfile board is the place to ask awkward questions although they are moving this server next week!
