New Beech Baron panel problems

Postby WebbPA » Fri Feb 21, 2003 5:34 pm

Tipster,

FS hates ATC_WMH.GAU!  It gives me about 30 error messages then refuses to load it.  Unfortunately, it seems to be the entire radio panel.

I have another panel that warns me then loads anyway (I learned long ago when to avoid MS error messages) but this one won't load.

Any workaround?

Hmmmm....not sure.

I've had the occasional problem with it in the past but I'm not sure what causes it.

For example, it works fine for me in the Baron panel, and on the Duke panel as a master switch only on the yoke. But if I try and put the master switch on the duke main panel, it closes FS down. Very odd. It can't be a module because otherwise I'd get the same problem whatever panel I loaded it in with.

I'll have a look at it and get back to you.

I can fly VFR for a while.  Other than that it looks great.  Maybe someone else has the same problem, no problem or knows a workaround.

Thanks.

Some feedback would be useful here.

If you've got the same problem, or have installed the panel without this problem, please reply.

I've tracked the error down to something to do with fssound.dll but what it is I've no idea.

It's totally inconsistant. It works every time in my Baron panel and never if I install the same switch on the main Duke Panel (as opposed to the yoke where it works fine all the time).

I've tried it with and without the oldmodules entry for fssound.dll in the FS2002.cfg with no difference.

The only thing I can think of is a guage conflict. I'm going to look into that now but again, if I don't get it and you do, it's a mystery.

Maybe that I have no file named fssound.dll?

Ok - I've just discovered something.

WebbPA - go into the panel.cfg and comment out:
(insert ; at the beginning of the line)

gauge00=ATC-WHM!ATC Switch,  66,20,30,10 in the [Window03] section so it looks like below:

[Window03]
file=58Yoke.bmp
file_1024=Yoke.bmp
size_mm=480
window_size_ratio=1.000
position=0
visible=1
ident=31
window_pos= 0.160, 0.734

;gauge00=ATC-WHM!ATC Switch,  66,20,30,10
gauge01=Beech_Baron!Clock, 206,145,70,40
gauge02=ML-ARJ.apmas, 386,20,30,8

Tell me if it makes any difference.

Check in your Fs2002/Modules folder  - it should be there.

It didn't make any difference.

FS2002 "is unable to load some third party software".

Since this gauge is used several times the message pops up several times.

I did a Google search and it looks like fssound is a bad thing.  I definitely don't have it - searched the entire HD.

Right - fssound.dll is what you're missing. I should have included it in the upload - I didn't realise.

I'll e-mail it to you shortly.

It's not "bad" as such, and is in fact required by several gauges to link to the sounds attached to them - it's just tempremental sometimes. That's almost certainly the "3rd party software" it's looking for.

I've now pinned the problems I'm having with the Duke down to their being two instances of it when I add it to the main panel. It looks like it's connected to the order that they're drawn in.

It works fine on my Baron when there are two - just not the duke - I'll pin it down in the end.

E-mail on the way shortly.

I'm now building a panel for the Piper Cherokee. I'm not done adding all the gauges but I put the same radio stack in it that's in your baron panel and when I turn it on, most of the time I get a 'Microsoft Visual C++ Debug Library' error. It works find in your panel, but not all the time in mine. Do you have any idea to why that is?

oh, I found a small error in your Baron panel. Both fuel gauges are linked to the left fuel tank.

Thanks for the info on the fuel gauges.

I've absolutely no idea why you're getting that error in your panel I'm afraid, beyond a possible gauge conflict with something else you have on there. I'd suggest commenting out any other gauges that are likely culprits until you cn track it down. (Avionics switch springs to mind, but it could be anything).

Yes, I agree. it's an incredible panel! As i've already mentioned, You have inspired me to start making a panel.

Anyway, I'll try commenting out the Avionics switch. Thanks for the help
