The Prisoner - ITV

Postby machineman9 » Sat Apr 17, 2010 7:18 pm

A remake of the series The Prisoner made a start this evening... A new village, new local shops and a new country (set in Namibia this time, not Wales) :o

It's now an American show and it feels just like every other American TV show which kind of kills the uniqueness of The Prisoner. The first episode had an explosion  ::)

I'll still watch the other episodes just to see how it turns out in this series but it is nothing like the original.

Is anyone else watching this?

It was on American TV 6 months ago.

Barely worth watching.

I will probably end up agreeing. One event is not a trend though, so I will see how next weeks episode goes but I may just stop watching and buy the original.

Christopher Nolan, the director/producer/writer,etc of Batman Begins, Memento, The Prestige and The Dark Knight is rumoured to be making a film of The Prisoner which I hope will be something very special if you base that off the films he has already done such as the ones listed there.

They did it all in one week here.  If I had to wait a week between episodes I would have given up on it long before the end.

Sadly I am hooked on the badness. I know it is awful but I feel obliged to find out how it ends.  8-)

Well I quite like it.....not trying to be a remake of the original (that would just be wrong), but retains a bit of the heritage....I've been enjoying it for the last few weeks :)
