Unheard of music

Have a song that nobody has heard of before, or even a whole band?

Zager and Evans. They made the 'In the year 2525...' look them up on Youtube, they don't have a lot there but a few.

Cool thread idea. Let's see how obscure we can get....

Personally, I've kept my interest in this artist to myself for quite a while since it is so different, and with difference comes negativity, assumptions, and discrimination by mainstream society, but I finally decided to give it a shot and reveal this interest....

Artist: Emilie Autumn

Summary: Highly distorted electric violin packaged with a unique look and personality.

You have two routes you could go with this artist.

If you're open to a wide variety of song styles with vocals, look into the songs: "Opheliac", "Misery Loves Company", and pretty much anything else on the album, also named "Opheliac".
They are all very different styles, and you can't really define the artist with a single song. Really hit or miss though depending on your tastes, but I would suggest at least listening to two or three different ones since they are so different before ruling her out. Also worth mentioning is the complete musical difference in style with her earlier album, titled "Enchant".

The other route you could go with is instrumentals, which is her "Laced/Unlaced" album (two discs, one called Laced, one called Unlaced). "Laced" being instrumentals using a regular (acoustic?) violin with a mix of original and classic songs, and "Unlaced" involving original instrumental songs with an electric violin. Yes, it sounds like a rock guitar, but it is a violin!
Recommended songs here include:

"La Folia"
"Face The Wall"
"Manic Depression"
"On a Day"

^^Listening to them in that order for the first time is quite a ride.....

Besides the classical songs with some of the Laced/Unlaced listing, I don't think it will be like anything you have heard before! Sure, she looks "different", but I hope that we have enough people here with an open mind to investigate this artist!

In The Year 2525 was #1 for six weeks in the summer of 1969.  Anyone who can remember 1969 can remember that song played over and over and over in keeping with radio airplay practices of the time.

After that, though, Zager and Evans were a one hit wonder.

I'm big into underground indie music. It's always really sweet to know a band, go to their shows where 20 people show up, then hang out with the band afterword. Then a year later, they make their break on a late-night talk show or hear them in a tv commercial. :)
