I have always liked Green day.
As a former (rock) Bass player (and old man ;)) I was imedeately hooked by their melodic songs and exceptionaly tight musicianship when I first heard Dookie.

They are an honest, ass kicking rock band!

Up until they decided to go political with their songs they were brilliant. Their newer songs that stay away are still good. But I just hate how they feel the need to push an opinion through a song like they do.

Just gave the album a listen-through. Not terrible, but definitely not what they used to be. "21 Guns" seems like it'd be a good drinking song though. ;D

Yup.  The early stuff, Top Notch!!!  Nowadays, a bit too political and mainstream, they've sold out.  Dookie was my favorite, very original and free, just typical feel good tunes to jam to.  Nimrod got the job done, but as said before, American Idiot just pulled the plug for me, chalked them up with the rest of the sellout bands on my list.

I enjoyed American Idiot when it 1st came out. That was my 1st real exposure to Green Day. I'd heard some of the early stuff, but not a lot. Then I borrowed Inernational Superhits off a friend...and that's a great compilation album. Best way I know of at least getting into the early days and I couldn't believe what I was missing!

I'm not even touching 21st Century Breakdown. I heard Know Your Enemy for about a minute and actually thought what a pile of sell out garbage. They're sort of turning into the next U2 (A band which I hate on an epic scale). Not musically wise, but in a so far up your own a$$ kind of way.

Leave the political stuff to Rage Against The Machine and Manic Street Preachers. End of!  :P
