The flashback continues...

The Last Straw, a clever idea but not one of my faves when I was a kid. You put sticks in the camels' saddlebags until its back broke. Yawn.

     


One of my greatest regrets is that by the time the Big Wheel arrived, I had grown too big for one. I knew some younger kids who rode theirs until they disentegrated, which was no easy feat. Instead of being mocked for riding a tricycle, these little nippers were envied... the Big Wheel was fast, and you could do cool tricks with it, using the hand brake. Genius.

     


The zenith of Big Wheel development: the Cobra model. Even came with stick-on letters to personalize your license plate...


     


Another timeless classic: the Erector Set. When they added motors, it was a big deal!!

     



I loved my Erector Set... too bad it all got thrown out; I could  use some of those parts for the simpit project...

     




I never had a Zero M Blaster, but I wanted one... it shot a big blast of air and made a cool sound.


     


Who can name this child actor, who went on to become very famous? Hint: picture him with an eyepatch...

DUDE! I had that EXACT Big Wheel growing up! It was great, until the front wheel split in two from being worn down in the middle. (Hole shots )

Fascinating. Most of the toys in your series look typically American & are completely unfamiliar to me. The kids in the ads look typically American too but then I suppose they would. I like the look of that Big Wheel but don't remember seeing one before. It was obviously not exported like the BMX bike.

I never had a Zero M Blaster, but I wanted one... it shot a big blast of air and made a cool sound.

I don't remember the blaster being that loud...also don't remember anybody being stupid enough to point it at someone's head, either.

Still alive, after a childhood spent playing unsupervised in the woods and on the train tracks, without helmets, padding, or life vest!
