I dunno, but this story suprised me.  If anyone actually saw the performance, what do you think?  Based on the pic in this article, she looks to be fingering the fretboard correctly.

Well, looks like she was playing the guitar, but I missed any solos, but I admit, I skipped through it looking for parts.  I didn't care for the song, or the Courtney Love impression, but that's just me.  And getting the feedback at the end is not difficult at all.  But looks like she did play through the song.

I saw it and thought she was playing it for real.
The one thing that stood out for me was, when she was singing AND playing the guitar she was standing bolt upright and not moving around at all... She looked liked she was concentrating.
Lose the guitar and Madonna was like a puppy on amphetamines...  ;)
