The End of an Era...

Postby C » Sun Jul 30, 2006 1:38 pm

Good bye "Top of the Pops" - tonight is the final episode...

One last observation - the old presenters are so much better. Thank heavens that Cotton woman (one of TOTPs current presenters)is presenting "Love Island" at the moment.

Nice to see Sir Jimmy (Saville) back on telly for a last time, amongst others (including most of Radio 2's DJ line up)...

So which preesenters do you remember.

DLT

Peter Powel
Mike Ried
Terry Wogan !!
Steve Wright
Tony Blackburn

Who can add? If we get stuck I am sure Fozzer can recall them all.

WOWZERS... :o...!

Just when I thought I was old enough to remember all of the presenters, Charlie's list reminds me that I must have slept through most of the episodes... :-[...!
LOL... ;D...!

...actually, it's a bit embarrassing watching the old ones now...
...reminds me too much of the 1960's and 1970's, which I am desperate to forget...
...Big hair, tight flares, purple shirts (with sweaty armpits), big belts, platform shoes, etc, etc,....!

(I still have them all secretly hidden in my wardrobe)....:-[...!

LOL...!

Wogan never presented TOTP although I believe he appeared on it once. (The Floral Dance.)
Steve Wright is the regular presenter of TOTP2 on BBC2. I'm not sure if this has also been axed.

Ah yes, who could forget the Floral Dance :-/

Of the cornet, clarinet and big trombone
Fiddle, 'cello, big bass drum
Bassoon, flute and euphonium
Far away, as in a trance
I heard the sound of the Floral Dance" :-/ :-/

...now there's an annoying chap who spoils my Radio 2 listening every day with his ear-splitting drum rolls, hand clapping and the usual whistling through the fingers to start the program off, followed by luvvy-duvvy chat, and endlessly praising of himself and his piffling program...>:(...!

Its equally as bad as suffering "The Archers" every bleedin' day... >:(...!

Someone upstairs in the BBC should get a grip of these annoying programs and presenters...
...for Fozzer's "easy listening" sake... ;)...!

P.S. ...did I mention Jeremy Vine as well...?

I rather like Steve Wright & crew. He's a lot better than some others I could mention.
You could always go & mow the lawn while he's on. :P

P.S. ...did I mention Jeremy Vine as well...?

Have to agree there though. Bring back our Jimmy. >:(

:o Never listened to the man although I'm told he's one of the more objectionable types, like most of these so-called comedians & presenters the younger ones seem to like these days. :-/
