Finished Downfall awhile back, then followed with Robert Harris' "Archangel."  It's an excellent book centered in Moscow and the City of Archangel in Russia.  It has to do with Stalin and his secret diary.  Excellent read, i'd be lying if I said I wasn't depressed when it ended!

Currently read Soldat, which is about Siegfried Knappe (well, he's telling the story, but it is translated), a Wehrmacht soldier who fought in almost every major german campaign and got wounded as well.  He even fought in Berlin and stayed until May 1st where he surrendered to the Russians with Weidling and Co, and then spent five years in a Russian POW camp and then eventually getting to the west.  It also includes 16 pages of photos he smuggled into the west.  It starts with Berlin in April 1945, which is familiar territory for me (see: Fall of Berlin I read a few months ago).

I reccommend anything by Hunter S Thompson.

Especially Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas and Fear and loathing on the campaign trail '72, every sentance he wrote was amazing.

Balkans actually. We didn't lose any Harriers in the Falklands.

Sqn Ldr Bob Iveson would disagree when his Harrier was shot down at 100' @ 450kts!... :)

I think we lost a total of 9 or 10. 4 Gr.3 (3 to enemy ground fire, one engine failure*) and the others were SHARs (2 ground fire/SAM, 1 exploded after take off, 2 are thought collided whilst on a night CAP, and one fell off it's ship whilst waiting to take off)...

*It was forced landed by its pilot, who, 20 year later was to be Chief of the Air Staff...

What was amazing is that in 25 years of service, including a war against a not under equipped air force, the Sea Harrier never lost in air to air combat...

Have any of you guys read any books by John J. Nance?

I have read about 6 of his books, they all have aviation related themes and are very hard to put down once you start reading. I think the best one I have read was Pandora's Clock.
