Lancasters or Halifax's?

How many engines, what nationality anything else about them aside from the twin rudders?

I checked the review of this film. I've probably seen it more than once but can't say I remember it. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00007K07J/103-0576221-1103019?v=glance&n=404272
The aircraft is an American airliner named Silver Queen. It's a sleeper carrying 9 passengers. With twin fins I would guess it's something like a Lockheed Model 10 Electra.

Do you mean twin horizontal stablizers (tailplane)?

This rings a bell. I'm almost certain it's been mentioned here before. Unfortunately I forget what it was all about now. ::)

I think this is the film you're talking about. http://www.youns.com/lucy/filmography.asp?offset=41

Note: Director Farrow remade the film in 1956 as Back From Eternity.
