Art is not only music and movies

Postby Poseidon » Mon Feb 13, 2006 8:30 am

I am a great fan of music but I want to remind literature. So, let's write down which poet or writer we think is the most important. Not necesarily the best in recognignition but the one who has touched our soul the most.

Here is my bit.

Writers.
- Herman Hesse
- Fiodor Dostoyevski
- Alexandros Papadiamantis
- Nikos Kazantzakis

Poets.
- Edgar Allan Poe
- Lord Byron
- Federico Garcia Lorca
- Artur Rimbaud

This is a great idea... sometimes I wonder if anybody reads anymore.

OK, my list is long, and I'm way behind on my "serious" reading... but here's a few off the top of my head:

Authors:

Robert Heinlein
Richard Bach
Ernest Gann
Omar Khayam
Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Michael Moorcock
Philip Jose Farmer
Antoine St.-Exupery
Mark Twain

Poets:

Li Po
William Blake
e..e. cummings
Rudyard Kipling
Emily Dickinson

... but I'll read almost anything; nothing ventured, nothing gained.
