Stones too old for own gig

Postby Hagar » Thu Jan 05, 2006 9:23 am

I just heard about this on the radio. The Rolling Stones will be the featured Super Bowl halftime performer at the Detroit Ford Field, Chicago in February 2006. If you're over 45 you will be disappointed as the organisers have seen fit to ban oldies from attending the event. Apparently they're not sprightly enough to dance to the music. This means that the Stones themselves will be far too old to play at their own gig. What a joke. ::)

Actually Doug there is a very good reason for this. The Onfield dancers are all just ordinary members of the public. Because of such a tight time frame they have to spend the first half of the game, which is about 90 minutes, standing in a cramped tunnel. They also have to do that pre-game and organisers estimate the wait alone could be upto 3 hours. Then they have to run out onto the field, and start dancing cheering and so on for 20 minutes and run off again. They get about 45 seconds to get on and off the field and its a good 60 yard dash in a crowd of a couple thousand people. They also have to attend rehersals in the month leading upto the event which are estimated to be anything upto 6 hours in length. While I am sure there are many fit over 45's you cant really take that risk when someone who isn't fit enough decides to apply then has a heart attack. Bam lawsuit.

Fair enough, but we're not talking about normal humans... we're talking about old Stones fans. They might surprise you... ;D
But whatever- even 20 years ago I'd have found all that too much trouble just to be a little closer to the stage at a Stones show; seems ridiculous.::)
But I will watch it on TV- Mick will probably have a "wardrobe malfunction" and flash a nipple; that'll be amusing.
:D

Well its America and since the admitance of the fact that the over 40ish crowd is not allowed to participate there will surely be a class action lawsuit filed ;) LOL!

And a lawsuit the second one falls over with a heartattack. Its safer and easier I guess to just say no.
