Ever have one of those years?

So last year I really never played my guitar or anything and had no luck trying to write any songs..

This year, I've already got three songs and I've played at least an hour every day!

Yeah. Two years ago I only played my drums a solid hour per month. Now I do at least two per day.

Right now I'm in one of those slumps.  Last year I wrote maybe 12 twelve songs and practiced for hours daily.  But now I don't have the motivation for any of that.  I really hope it kicks up again.

 I played in metal bands and wrote music up until 1998, then I got away from it and rarely touched my guitar until this year, I have been upgrading my studio with all new gear and have recorded (metalized/mangled) a few gay old cover tunes to get back into the process of recording, now I plan to start work on a new CD, I have one song complete that I have written and recorded, and deleted because I was unhappy with it, I am going to start it over from scratch.

 From the way things are sounding in my head and the way the first songs rough mix sounded, this is shaping up to be the heaviest (and strangest) thing I have ever done.
 It's hard not to sound like everyone else these days, hopefully the fact that I haven't listened to any of the current heavy music in a few years will keep my ideas fresh.
