Anyone know what this song is about? It's by Billy Joel, and I think it's about the New York Blackout, but I'm not sure...

Joel called it 'pure fiction' written after a newspaper headline in which the president at the time told NYC to 'drop dead'

I don't like him very much, but the live version of this song on his 'songs in the attic' album is outstanding.

I moved here 7 years ago and never thought I'd actually 'see the lights go out on b'way' but I did.
