Drummers

Which band do you think has the best drummer?
I picked Rush; their drummer is very good, his songs are a real challenge to play.

If I'm limited to your list it would have to be Neil Pert hands down. Abosolutly amazing!!!
But also Nicko McBrain (Iron Maiden) extremly complex, perfect timekeeping. Him along with Steve Harris on bass makes for awesome rythem section!
Peter Criss- although some say it is simplistic if you listen closely it sounds like he as four feet and four hands.
Tommy Lee- powerfull!!!!! Don't know what happend to him
Anton Fig- extremly versitile, awesome studio musician who has played with the best (KISS for example!)
Eric Carr-R.I.P. give him 8 bass drums and he could play them all at once!

and we all know who PeteTLUK will say!! :)

From the ones on your list I would have to say The Who. Keith Moon was a maniac. An extrovert who changed rock drumming for ever. His temporary replacement Simon Philips is technically a far better drummer & better than Moon in every respect. IMHO

From the list I would say the drummer from Rush.

But....the best drummer has to be Glenn Milchem from Bluerodeo.
I know...you are probably wondering.."Who the hell is Glen Milchem?"

Lets just say...he has a degree is jazz drumming!

Check him out at http://www.bluerodeo.com/br/glenn.html

The best drummer I ever saw live (apart from an unknown kid in a club in Savannah Georgia) was the legendary Phil Seamen. This was the guy that taught Ginger Baker. I only saw him once, about a month before he died & he was obviously past his best. He could still do the business behind that kit. I would have loved to have seen him in his prime, especially his famous drum battle with Ginger Baker at the Kempton Park Festival. People still talk about that today. :o

A close second would be John Hiseman. I saw him standing in with the Graham Bond Organisation one night when their regular drummer was taken ill. Blew my tiny mind. ;)

The drummer from Queen, Roger Taylor, went to my school. The story goes that the careers teacher at the time told him to start studying for a proper job because he would never make any money from drumming... And that is why Roger Taylor has half a dentisty degree. ;D

However, for best drummer, I do consider Nick Mason to be very good.
