That's actually called the MTV look.
The majority of music video editors think that music video watchers have the attention span of 2 year olds and use the quick cut technique in excess.
Take a look at Romeo + Juliet http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0117509/ done entirely in MTV style. Boring from the start.

but because the show the how, they rarely show the ppl, i mean who cares about them?!
but seriously, i also have the AC/DC SARStock performance, and to be frank, i didnt mind the camera dude wandinrg off in the crowd (if u guys saw it u might know why...) or the Paul McCartney back to the US tour, also a very well made piece of memorabilia... i have thoe and i dont have complaints... now, while i lived in the states i never watched MTV, i think they r a bunch of sellouts who only care for the money. i always watched VH1, i think is farr better, and they show true music, not some hip hop stuff that uses no musical instruments whatsoever and that they moan and grunt throughout the song. i aldo have a few clips of Black Sabbath's Reunion concert... i do have a few complaints but not many.... what i really hate is when the guiatr/drum/bass solo is on and the camera dude moves away to the ppl, they dont show the solo :O how sh!tty is that?!?!?! i think it all depends on what u watch, and it would be outrageous if the KISS Alive IV DVD was 90%ppl 10%band....

PS. How many times have you watched your favourite group or band & just as the lead guitarist/bass player/drummer/whoever gets to the part you always wondered how the hell they did it - the director switches the shot to the wrong member of the band or the audience?![]()
This has been happening constantly for as long as I can remember. I think it must be me after all.

The majority of music video editors think that music video watchers have the attention span of 2 year olds . . .
We are such a superficial culture, dependent upon flashing images to hold our attention.
