Proofreading: the Dying Art

Proofreading: the Dying Art

Postby H » Wed Sep 09, 2009 3:45 pm

I received this e-mail via my uncle:

Proofreading is a dying art, wouldn't you say?
This one I caught in the SGV Tribune the other day and called the Editorial Room and asked who wrote this. It took two or three readings before the editor realized that what he was reading was impossible!!! They put in a correction the next day:

If this forum is anything to go by I would say it's already dead. :D

Jolly good. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Excellent... ;D...!

A good Proof Reader is worth their his/her weight in Gold when they do the job right...

A few of us do our own "Proof Reading" before..(and after)...our Posts...to correct any errors and obvious silly mistakes whenever possible...;)...!

Its always advisable to get your Mum, Dad, the Neighbour from next-door, etc, to Proof Read your Text BEFORE sending it...
...and check it AGAIN after sending it... ;D...!

I love those silly errors in the Newspapers...they always stand out like a sore thumb... ;D...!

Paul... ;D... ;D...!

...after posting this, you can bet your boots I will be checking, and double checking it, to see if I have posted something really daft... ;D...!

(Doug generally does my Proof Reading for me).

Not like you to be so politically correct Paul. :P This might be better.
