Oh, heck, even a near miss will cause percussion trauma to soft tissue. The percussion wave it creates if the round even comes within 6 inches of a man head will stun and deafen him. A .50 is one heck of a round. I've never heard of anyone surviving a body impact and a hit on one of the extremities will rip arms and legs off it the round hits a bone (which it normally does).
My step-son sent me a picture of what a .50 did to a suicide bomber in Iraq. Extremely graphic....

Indeed. I've seen a lot photos up close of guys whose fate was ended by a .50 cal. You're right, it is graphic and not for the faint of heart...

There's a huge difference in a video game and real life. I've never seen a video game that comes close to real life combat. For that fact, even Hollywood can't get it right. They're getting close with movies like Band of Brothers and Saving Private Ryan.
Biggest problem is that the bullet always hits before the report of the rifle.
