Actually, it isn't - that poor Foot Guard did the funky chicken right in front of Her Majesty.

At least - I can't know for certain, not knowing the origin of the picture; but I do know that it was an affliction I was plagued with on parade.

Probably, most people don't realize how long we poor foot-pounders have to stand at attention before the DOD (Dignitary of the Day) makes their appearance on a ceremonial parade. It's rarely less than an hour; frequently much longer, standing totally motionless on a sweltering parade square while high ranking bozos visitors munch on nanaimo bars and say 'Ooo, look at the pretty uniforms'.

Even after nine years; I'd generally make it about three quarters of an hour before woozing out and bouncing off the asphalt. ;D

Most embarrassing moment: Doing the Funky Chicken in Bosnia; right in front of General Lewis MacKenzie.
(I ran into him years later at a formal dinner in Ottawa. He recognized me instantly. Was it for my brilliant leadership of a section of Pioneers? No. For my first-rate security work? No. That sniper we took out? Nope - it was because he remembered the soldier that bounced a foot off the concrete five feet in front of him. Dammit. ;D )

BUT - in my own defense; at least I went down like a soldier - ramrod straight and face first... I might have looked like street pizza, but I kept my pride... 8-)

I think they might have been following a wee bit too close. If the cop was trying to pull the other car over for a traffic violation. He'd play hell making the charges stick considering he could be cited for reckless driving and failure to keep his vehicle under control.

Bet it looked cool on the cops dash cam....lmao.

The police one was just on the news the other day, with the dash cam from the patrol car.

Yep, happens all the time, change of command ceremonies in full body armor, rifle and uniform inspections, any kind of formation that takes over an hour is bound to have someone "fall out"

I have yet to do it, I find bending the knees just a smidgen helps, and it isn't noticeable.  It is hard to forget that sound the skull makes when someone does lock their knees and faceplant into the asphalt...CRACK
