I saw on the news recently that an oil company (forgot the name) will start holding back on oil production, so the price doesnt drop too much. :-? If that isnt the definition of dickweed, then what is.

I don't think the US government will allow that. They have already been investigating them for misconduct including price fixing. Even the oil speculators are under investigation and several are facing prosecution. The US Government has made oil and it's pricing a part of national security. So the oil companies don't dare try to many stunts.

My grandmother said my grandfather complained in 1925 when gas was .15 cents a gallon.

My dad complained in the 60's when it was something like .50 cents a gallon.

In the 70's it was somewhere around .75 cents a gallon and I think it finally hit a $1.00 a gallon sometime in the 80's. So it took approx 55 years for it to go up .85 cents. Now, it can do that in a week and take years to go back down. Makes you wonder doesn't it..... :-?

I wonder how the average working wage compares. When I was a young sprog prices remained much the same for years on end. Any increases were usually due to tax. When I got my first motorbike petrol was 5 shillings (

You got a good deal -- it was @ 30 cents per gallon in NH -- but I'd like to get it for .75 cents per gallon; even at 75 cents per gallon I could more readily afford a gasoline-engined vehicle until I had something more ecologically proper.
