Moonshot

Sometimes my life's events are unbelievable. For the last part of my trek to work the trees hid much of the sky and the moon from view but most of the first of the journey was awash in moonlight. Well, before the moon was about to disappear from my view, I saw a flickering light start to streak across the sky from the horizon. Some would say that it was just an aircraft (I must admit that it appeared so). Nevertheless, as I cleared the treeline only the stars adorned the sky and all else was darkness.
I'd been hearing about the errant spy satellite we've had in, rather, out of orbit and our military intent to shoot it down this week with a missile. That flickering streak must have been the missile -- the blasted fools shot out the moon!!!
We'll hope it's back in place tonight but I wouldn't be surprised if it happened again in the next three years or so...

A friend of mine use to live in Vermont and he had a buddy that lived in NH. This NH fellow had a 90 some odd year old man that was sitting on a deck when the Astronaut's landed on the moon in 1969. The old fellow was a bit confused on his celestial barrings and thought the moon was gone. He looked up serious as a heart attack and said, "Darn stupid nauts, done hit the dad gum moon and blowed it up!" He said everyone was roaring with laughter and the old cuss couldn't figure out why they'd be laughing at something so serious.

After they pointed out the correct place to find the moon, he still refused to admit he'd made a mistake and said, "Then they just moved it.... :-/"

Channel 8 in Portland, ME, has a translator on Mt. Washington so NH receives its transmission as well or better than its own channel 9. School children may use anything to stay up late; quite some years ago, when a previous lunar eclipse was to occur late at night, channel 8 reported that a mother had called the station to complain, "I would think you'd schedue these things at a more respectable time -- my kids have to go to school in the morning!"
Hmmn... some of my relatives are Mainiacs.

I remember seeing a guy named "Marty" (I think) giving weather forecasts from on top of Mount Washington. He was absolutely hilarious trying to understand. If this is the same fellow....lmao....I can fully understand the need of a translator.

I remember he use to end his broadcasts with the goofiest grins....lmao
