Well, it was more of a multiple reference to another post here being political, current actions by the nation of Turkey --
and a past U.S. event (from which we're still working on recovery):

During the American Civil War, the Confederates opposed the idea of declaring Thanksgiving a national holiday; citing that it's a "dang Yankee's holiday".

I don't know of it being an official holiday anywhere in the U.S. until the 1900s... :-?
