Not so good bank robbers

A friend sent this to me this morning! I nearly wet myself laughing....

HOW NOT TO COMMIT A BANK ROBBERY

Here are some easy lessons gleaned from the experiences of a number of would-be bank robbers.

Pick The Right Bank:
You don't want to make the same mistake as the fellow in Anaheim, CA, who tried to hold up a bank that was no longer in business and had no money.

Study Your History:
Don't try to stick up the First National Bank of Northfield, Minnesota. Jesse James tried it 111 years ago, and the townsfolk took just seven minutes to kill two and capture three of his gang. Nobody tried again until 1984, and the customers chased the guy down. They're tight with their dollar, those Minnesotans.

Speak To The Right Teller:
One robber in Upland, CA, presented his note to the teller, and her father, who was in the next line, got all bent out of shape about it. He wrestled the guy to the ground and sat on him until authorities arrived.

Don't Sign Your Demand Note:
Demand notes have been written on the back of a subpoena issued in the name of a bank robber in Pittsburgh... on an envelope bearing the name and address of another in Detroit. And in East Hartford, Connecticut, on the back of a withdrawal slip giving the robber's signature and account number.

Don't Advertise:
A teenage girl in Los Angeles tried to distract attention from her face by wearing a see-through blouse with no bra while holding up banks.

Go Easy On The Disguise:
One robber, dressed up as a woman with very heavy make-up, ran face first into a glass door. He was the first criminal ever to be positively identified by lip-print.

Take Right Turns Only:
Avoid the sad fate of the thieves in Florida who took a wrong turn into the Homestead Air Force Base, drove up to a military police guardhouse and, thinking it was a tollbooth, offered the security men money.

Be Aware Of The Time:
Imagine the chagrin of the bank robber in Cheshire, Massachusetts, who hit the bank at 4:30 PM, then tried to escape through downtown North Adams, where he was trapped in rush hour traffic until police arrived.

Consider Another Line Of Work:
Bank robbery is not for everyone. One nervous Newport, RI robber, while trying to stuff his ill-gotten gains into his shirt pocket, shot himself in the head and died instantly.

Be Strong:
Then there was the case of the hopeful criminal in Swansea, Massachusetts, who, when the teller told him she had no money, fainted. He was still unconscious when the police arrived. His getaway car parked nearby had the keys locked inside.

My favorite back robber story is of a young man in Malta who successfuly held up the bank, ran out side and across the road to the bus stop where he waited a full 15 minutes for a bus that never came before being arrested by a police officer who was suspicious at the bundle of new bank notes he was holding to his chest.

My favourite was the Italian bank robber who tried to rob the bank at the end of the day on a Friday and knocked himself unconcious on the locked security door.
Within a week of getting out of prison he hit the same bank (this time successfully getting the money) ran out and jumped into a taxi and shouted his address... then noticed that there were two drivers and they both had uniforms on ;D

I remember hearing about one guy who took his dog with him when he robbed the bank.  Once he got the money he fled, leaving the dog behind.  When the police arrived, they just followed the dog when it went home and caught the robber in the act of counting the stolen money.

They had a bank robber in Miami back in the late 70's that was big time into theatrics. He'd watched to many old western and upon receiving the bag of money did some fancy pistol twirling. He then shoved the 9mm automatic into the front of his pants and promptly shot of a couple of inches of his ;D and his nads were mortally wounded.

Needless to say, he didn't the balls to commit any future bank heists ..... ;D

Must be a Clint Eastwood fan. Wait a second, was Clint Eastwood even filming during the '70's? ;D

Indeed he was. I remember him as Rowdy Yates in Rawhide. (1959 - 66)

The best normal robbery I ever read of was of a chap in America who thought the best place to rob would be the gun store. So in he walks holding his hand gun, steps past the marked police car on his way to the door, when he gets inside he fires a shot into the air shouts "everybody down!" and is then promptly shot by the policeman and the half dozen or so other customers also in the premises.

The cops found him laying on the floor holding on to his crotch for dear life. His only luck was that he missed both his legs and his groin. The bullet had blown not only his manhood to pieces. He had really bad gun powered wounds (seems in the confined space in his pants, the effect was allot worse) to what was left of his manhood and to his groin. The damned fool almost bleed to death by the time he was transported to the hospital.  ::)

This went down as one of the worst bank robbery blunders on record.  ;D
