Great sayings

What are you laughing at?

Great sayings

Postby daz1 » Mon Jan 02, 2006 1:02 pm

He who laughs last thinks slowest.

Everyone has a photographic memory. Some don't have film.

A day without sunshine is like, well, night.

On the other hand you have different fingers.

Change is inevitable except from a vending machine.

I just got lost in thought. It was unfamiliar territory.

When the chips are down, the buffalo is empty.

Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.

Those who live by the sword... get shot by those who don't.

I feel like I'm diagonally parked in a parallel universe.

He's not dead... he's electroencephalographically challenged.

You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say will be misquoted, then used against you.

I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges.

Honk if you love peace and quiet.

Despite the cost of living, have you noticed how it remains so popular?

Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

It is hard to understand how a cemetery raised its burial cost and blamed it on the cost of living.

The 50-50-90 rule: Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong.

It is said that if you line up all the cars in the world end to end, someone would be stupid enough to try and pass them.

You can't have everything....where would you put it?

Latest survey shows that 3 out of 4 people make up 75% of the world's population.

The things that come to those who wait, may be the things left by those who got there first.

A fine is a tax for doing wrong. A tax is a fine for doing well.

It was recently discovered that research causes cancer in rats.

I wished the buck stopped here as I could use a few.

I started out with nothing, and I still have most of it.

Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak. ;D

cheers

One of these confuses philosophical pandemic analysis:
" You can't have everything....where would you put it?"
There are always two major places to put something: somewhere or nowhere; even nothing can be placed nowhere.
Something can usually be placed anywhere unless nothing is always there.
There's more but I think I'll quit before I get nowhere when I don't want to. :P 8)

So much for taking things at face value. I should have heeded my own precept: there's an exception for everything.

He who laughs last thinks slowest.
The first one to laugh it off has often not thought at all.

Everyone has a photographic memory. Some don't have film.
I got myself some film. Either I need instructions to properly load the film and/or I should have gotten a camera.

Change is inevitable except from a vending machine.
It was no less inspiring when I put a dollar bill in the machine for an 80-cent item. I got two dimes back but the item didn't vend.

I just got lost in thought. It was unfamiliar territory.
I rarely get lost in thought -- I'm frequently already lost before I go there.

When the chips are down, the buffalo is empty.
Tell that to the tot who was pointing at the buffaloes 'pooh' and was nearly drowned in the yellow stream.

Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.
Then how do you know you've done most any of it?

Those who live by the sword... get shot by those who don't.
Yet, they'll still die by the sword unless someone wrests it away before they breathe their last.

I feel like I'm diagonally parked in a parallel universe.
I should be so 'in tune'. Sometimes I'm paralleled diagonally in a parked universe. Other times I am a diagonal in a universal park.

He's not dead... he's electroencephalographically challenged.
In any case, it could be flat out shocking.

You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say will be misquoted, then used against you.
So will the silence.

Despite the cost of living, have you noticed how it remains so popular?
It can't be that popular -- everyone's been dying to leave it.

A fine is a tax for doing wrong. A tax is a fine for doing well
Then I must protest. I've been taxed for not doing well and it certainly isn't fine.

I wished the buck stopped here as I could use a few.
The buck did stop... that's why I can't pay the bills.

I started out with nothing, and I still have most of it.
You've done quite well to keep any, let alone all of it. Most try but fail to lose nothing.

Nice stuff daz! The last one is soooooo true :D

He's not dead... he's electroencephalographically challenged.

Or mortally challenged. Burial ground for the mortally dead is the fancy name for a cemetary ::) :)

It was recently discovered that research causes cancer in rats.

Not surprised :-X

So true.

Ditto!!! :-X

That's about right for humankind :P
