Again, nice bit of equipment, but almost as thick as my laptop and just as heavy, so it was out of the running.

I find the thickness and weight an advantage; it presents a more 'solid' feel in your hands than the thinner tablets do.

The features far outweighed both size and weight.

Toshiba's current tablet is the Excite, which comes closer to the Galaxy/ Nexus style in look and feel. If I'm not mistaken, the Thrive has been discontinued although many retailers still retain stock on hand.

My elderly Sister, who has never had a computer before, has just purchased a Google Nexus 7 (
Win 8.1 64-bit. DX11. Advent Tower. Intel i7-3770 3.9 GHz 8-core. 8 GB System RAM. AMD Radeon HD 7700 1GB RAM. DVD ROM. 2 Terra Byte SATA Hard Drive. Philips 17" LCD Monitor. Saitek Cyborg X Fly-5 Joystick. ...and a Briggs and Stratton Petrol Lawn Mower.
