Pass the coal!

Postby ozzy72 » Tue Dec 25, 2012 5:19 pm

I've been very naughty... my uncle gave me his laptop for repair. Tis now running beautifully with his new battery, Windows 7, a new Office install but he is a Star Wars fan so I've been bad.
It took me a little while to work out how to replace the Windows startup sound with Darth Vader saying "What is thy bidding my master?" but it is now working [smiley=evil.gif] [smiley=evil.gif] [smiley=evil.gif]
Why did M$ make it so hard to do this in Win 7?

But they're so much fun. So I've had to edit DLLs and all sorts to make this work. I just wish I could see my uncles face when Darth's voice comes out of his laptop on boot-up. He'll be shocked and then probably rolling around on the floor wetting himself ;D ;D ;D

Its something I find really annoying with Windows 7.
Its not possible to change the default start-up sound, with something of your choice.
It could be done easily on previous versions of Windows; eg Win XP, etc, but not Windows 7, for some strange reason!
A Google search indicated that it was difficult/impossible.

I used to have lots of fun applying different start-up sounds in Win XP!
