I'm having to renew my British Driving Licence....again!
After the age of 70 years, we have to re-apply for a Driving Licence every 3 years...
I've just applied for my third one (for 2013), after confirming that I can still see the pretty Blond across the street, I can remember my name, where I live...and I still have a full bag of marbles above my neck!

Still got to terrify the local villagers on my trusty Motorcycle(s)!.... ...!

I've just renewed mine for the first time. The new one arrived in the post yesterday. I just hope that I will realise when it's time to stop driving, unlike a lot of other old fogies in this area.

When I first moved to my present location and had to apply for a different state drivers license; I was waiting to get my photo taken for the license.

I noticed a gentlemen that was in his 90's and quite apparently suffering from dementia sitting trying to answer the road test questions. The examiner literally gave him almost all the answers and he still missed some. They then set him aside to wait of his photo. He got up and was wondering all around the room. He wondered back with all the state inspectors and was asked to go sit down several times. His 70 year old daughter had to get him to sit down. These morons gave him a damned license!

When I went to leave I asked if anyone saw which direction the old guy went so I could go the opposite direction. I went next door and reported this to the state highway patrol. Several state license inspectors lost their jobs that day. Seems they had it all on security cameras.....

Most of my 60+ years have been spent on Motorcycles, solo and side-car, with the occasional motor-car ownership in between, when roads were very much quieter than they are today.
I can still manage 2-wheeled motorcycles very well, safely, being very used to them, but I suspect that being inside a bulky motor-car surrounded by heavy traffic nowadays, would be more difficult to be safe, without a lot of practice.
(The last time I drove my present motor-car was some 22 years ago).

I now spend a lot of time anticipating hazards around me whilst motorcycling, and take great care to minimise the dangers for myself and others.

One does not become more invincible with age!

I wish the rules were a little more firm here for our "more seasoned" drivers. 

Case in point, my grandfather, god rest his soul.  He was blind as a bat, and we knew it.  We had gone as far as sabotaging his vehicle to keep him from driving, although he could still see decent enough to work on it.  My mom brought him to the driver's license office to renew his license, just sure they would turn him away.  When he was at the desk they asked him how are your eyes.  He responded without missing a beat, just went to the eye doctor last week.  THEY LET HIM SKIP THE EYE TEST!  Nevermind that the eye doctor told him he shouldn't be driving!  My mom was too speechless to stop them.

After commuting on Chicago interstates for a third of my working life and then the 400 series in Toronto, I really can't wait until 'they' take my licence. I'll take to the sidewalks in a little electric cart and head for Wallmart if I miss traffic jams.

Here in Germany, as of next month, your have to renew your licence every 15 years They say it is to prevent the half dozen people who are driving without one from doing so however we are not stupid.........$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

From the perusal, either NHMV is better staffed or I've been singled out; had to take the eye test every time, whether or not I'd just been checked at the VA optometrist (my eyesight has been somewhat impaired -- now 20/20 with both eyes rather than 20/17 with the formally weaker left eye; 20/20 still seems blurry to me compared to what once was). I'm not sure what age NH requires the full exam (70s, I think), as I know they do, but I'm sure they'll let me know when I get there.

All my three, new-type, plastic Licences renewals were free, Doug.

Also, I only supplied my photograph for my first renewal at 70, subsequent licences have all had my photo already incorporated in the plastic card. (They must have a copy of my original photo).
(I just look slightly younger in my original photo.. ...which is nice!).

P.S I still have my original red and yellow booklets of my original Motor Cycle Driving Licences dating from 1952! (A new page had to be stuck in the booklet every year).
I obtained my 3-ton Truck, etc, (all vehicle groups), Driving Licence whilst in the Army (1955), and this was transferred to my civilian Driving Licence upon demob....which was also nice...(both the Licence and Demob!)!

What I usually do when ever I need to renew my License, is, I just go into Flight Simulator and pull one up, and Print it off with my Name on it !

Best part its FREE ! 

Having My "Commercial Pilots License", has got me into many Aircraft, like the one I'm in Now, this 747-400 I'm flying, for CRASH Airways ~ 

I'm kinda in a predictment right now at 43,000ft, but I have no idea where i'm at, or how to get there 

But - I got the License
