So I am seeing some people think this guy re-entered the Earth's atmosphere when technically he had around 100 more miles to go before he would actually be jumping from space!  ;D
But I guess that is missing the point...everyone go buy Red Bull NOW!!! IT GIVES YOU WINGS!!!  ;D

This was so amazing to watch.... it's so awesome that humans strive to push the boundaries like Felix and the Red Bull Stratos team have done today.

I couldn't believe it when he started to spin and tumble like that.... but good on 'em that he got it stabilized without deploying the drogue chute.

65 years ago today... Chuck Yeager broke the sound barrier in the Bell X-1.

65 years ago today... Chuck Yeager officially broke the sound barrier in the Bell X-1.

The sound barrier had been broken several times between 1945-1947.

I'm sorry that I did not include the word "officially" in my post.   We all know that Chuck Yeager was "officially" the first one to do it.

With no lateral motion and no air resistance he would fall very quickly.

The force of gravity on the ISS 200 miles above the earth's surface is 90% of that on the surface.

I need to think for a minute. :D Because the earth has lateral motion, and the balloon had equal lateral motion, which is what kept the balloon near the launch site. Once entering space, the balloon would be free of resistance and still have motion? So wouldn't it take weeks to re enter atmosphere? :)

Any object that travels at 17,500 mph will orbit the earth regardless of its altitude.
