Spam Telephone calls...

Postby Fozzer » Mon Apr 23, 2012 9:44 am

This was interesting.... ::)...

I often get rubbish/unwanted Telephone calls every day, on my land-line telephone.
I always ignore the call, let it ring out, and then dial 1471 to identify the caller.
I tried this today, as usual, and got this reply in an Asian accent...>>

"There is a phonetic error in the application. Goodbye"

Googling up the particular message, I got this answer...>>>

http://talktalkmembers.net/forums/showt ... hp?t=57290

First reply: "Used to prevent us from identifying and reporting the caller!"

Something new to me!... ;)...!

Anyone else received such a message?

Paul... ;)...!

I've taken to making unsolicited sales calls into obscene phone calls. I make rather lewd suggestions to the caller and when they get all huffy and offended I point out it is their fault for ringing a demented pervert and they've paid for the call.
Oddly enough since implementing this new policy I've had no repeat calls...

Hmm, it would be interesting if any of them did call you back. You just might find one that the perverse nature of the person they called appeals to them..... ;D

We get those crappy calls (I know they're a nuisance, because I never pick up - If they're important, they go onto answer phone and I can intercept the call before they leave a message).

However, there was this one time where I though 'why not?':

"Hello, machineman, I'm from Accident Claims. We understand that you have recently been in a traffic accident..."
->"Umm, no. I do not own a car"
"But you are machineman?"
->"Yes I am, but I don't own a car"
"Have you ever owned a car?"
->"No. So stop ringing me and delete this number from your systems"

Little do they know, I'm just a named driver on a different insurance policy

I've been getting so many lately that I have devised a system for dealing with them.

Robo callers have about a 3 second delay before the live caller is notified that you have picked up the phone.  When I pick up the phone count I to 2 - if no one is on the other end by then I hang up.  This works 99% of the time.

;D
I have a temper, so I just rip them a new one up one side and down the other and threaten a lawsuit..Hey, if lawsuit threats can be used to ruin our medical care, why not used to ruin the tellemarketer buisness?? In reality, you actually CAN take them to court. My phone number is on a federal "do not call" list that prohibits tellemarketer use, one mention of that and a lawsuit threat and they are gone!  ;)
