I have a friend who lives in Western Kentucky and he completely lost his shed. I also have a friend who lives near Branson, Missouri and the only thing she has left is her house...

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A hospital spokeswoman says a toddler found alive in an Indiana field after violent storms is the sole survivor of her immediate family.

Cis Gruebbel is a spokeswoman for Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville, Ky. Gruebbel says the toddler is in critical condition.

Washington County, Ind., Coroner Rondale Brishaber said the girl's mother, father, 2-month-old sister and 2-year-old brother all died in the storm ...

The Folks who live in Tornado Alley, and are fully prepared to stay there, suffer the consequences, re-build their lives, come what may, are certainly a special breed!

Year by year, I read horror stories of the annual devastation in the Central and South-eastern regions affected by inclement weather, going back into the distant past.

And still Folks continue to live their lives there!
True grit?

I've been living in Tornado Alley (Kansas) for almost 5 years now and had no issues, and many people I've met are the same.  It does happen, but to me it seems to be less widespread than the media wants us to believe.  Tornadoes do happen, and when they do it's awful for those affected, but it's not like living in the midwest is signing a death warrant.

Haven't had to much to deal with in the north here, though our worst tends to be in the late spring or in the fall.
