Weather Bomb Due to hit New Zealand

Postby andy190 » Fri Mar 02, 2012 12:27 am

Tomorrow a Large Weather Bomb is due to hit New Zealand Tomorrow. It will mainly affect the North Island but the North of the South Island will also be affected.

The Cook Strait ferries have been cancelled because of safety concerns.

Read more about it Here.

The area which I live, Hawkes Bay in is expecting heavy rain, up to 120km/h gale force winds at sea and 7 metre sea swells.

Fozzer, we haven't had the weather you described since the 2011 summer.

It's been an awful summer this year; I think we've only had about half a week of sunny days the whole summer. :o

But this afternoon I'm going to have a flight round my area with real world weather turned on. :D (So I may crash a few times. ;) )

"The profession that I want to do when I grow up is be a weatherman because it;s the only job that I can consistently fail at and never get fired." :D
Best of luck with your storm :o.
;)
Most people think that flying a plane is dangerous, except pilots because they know how easy it is.
Arguing with a pilot is like wrestling with a pig in the mud, after a while you begin to think the pig likes it.

Real weather (REX) is scary sometimes!

On some of my Cal West Coast real weather flights I am often refused a take-off, or landing, by Air Traffic Control, because of poor visibility!
Which means I have to switch my computer off, ....until the weather improves*.... :'(...!
San Francisco and Los Angeles are renowned for their dense sea-mists!

Poor visibility frightens me!... :o...!

Paul....clear blue skies...I like!... :)...!

* possibly... ;)...!

The storm isn't going to be bad compared to what the US gets, but for NZ it's pretty bad.

Oneof the towns I've been thinking about is Haumoana just south of the Tukituki River.

Have a look at it in Google Maps Here.

We spend a lot of time in Multiplayer, around there.

I cant get my tongue around some/all of those Maori place names!
It gets very difficult in a Chat Window conversation (spelling!).

Paul....Kiwi Flier... 8-)...!

Fozzer, you can't even spell Taupo I saw. ;)

And the locals don't like it if you mispronounce a Maori name.

But if you fly round Hawkes Bay all the big towns have nice easy names. Hastings, Napier, Clive, Taradale & Havelock North*.

*Where I live. One of the snootiest towns in New Zealand in my opinion.

The weather bomb is still around.

It blew roofs off houses in Patea & power is out to 25,000 residents in Taranaki & may not be back on for a few days.

Read more about it here.
