What type of Internet connection do you have?

Postby andy190 » Wed Feb 08, 2012 9:29 pm

Hi I was just curious about what type of Internet connection people have. If you tick other, post what it was & I'll see if I can add it to the poll. :)

P.S. Admin if this isn't allowed just delete it. :)

Talk-Talk. 8 Mbps Broadband.

Actual speed:
6.4 Mbps download.
0.7 Mbps upload.

ADSL Wired Modem. (No Router).

Paul.

I well remember using Dial-up in the 1990's, and early 2000's!
My first Service Provider was "Freeserve", and I still get my e-mail via them!

Formation flying with CFS 2 on Internet Dial-up was a wonderful experience not to be forgotten...
...providing that you only stayed on-line for no more than two hours...

Otherwise you got automatically disconnected, and had to re-dial and re-connect to CFS 2 again...

...Happy days!... [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]...!

P.S...even with my (high-speed?) Broadband connection, I still have to dial up to get connected to my Service Provider, every time I fire up my Computer. (ADSL Wired Modem, no Router).

I'm slightly better off -- the tar isn't in liquid form and, except for weather, covers most of the miles to the library.

The reason I put dial-up in & not the others was because I wanted to see how many people had Dial-up compared to broadband so I could see if the image size limit was worth it.

There is no broadband service where I live. Two blocks away, it's no problem, but here? No that would cost $1500 to put up new fiber optic lines. So we switched to satellite. If I had to go back to dial-up right now I would just unplug the computer and move the woods. ;)

I'm in NZ too. My ISP is Telstraclear and I get 10-15 mbps down and 1 mbps up.

A regular 8Mb/512Kbit ADSL. which performances are lately a little tarnished by the unusually harsh, and quasi polar weather Italy is going through (be this in itself or the many people who, in the impossibility of physically going out, browse around so much more, ending up straining the provider max bandwidth).

Modern day Internet is practically unusable by dial-up. Some pages are so unwieldy and heavy, they put strain on a broad band connection... I would not try and use them on a dial up for fear of fossilizing in the waiting time needed. :P
