The scary looking arachnid in your other pic is harmless.

I personally love arachnids! I used to have a pet scorpion called Stan. He was lovely. My sister killed him by stabbing him with a pencil... our relationship has deteriorated since this point!
In Australia as a kid we had to deal with these beauties http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian ... web_spider
Personally I'd love a pet one of these http://www.camelspiders.net/

I never used to mind them... As a young child we kept some as pets  ;D  But nowadays, anything larger than a money spider is just horrific for me to look at.

A couple of years ago there was a spider terrorising the class during and English lesson. Most of the girls were squealing, but then one got out of her chair, walked up, grabbed the spider (not a tiny one, either!) and then threw it out of the first floor window... I guess that's one way to do it  ;D

Most of the girls were squealing,

now that would never happen ::)
some in my class start screaming when they see a tiny spider about 1mm in size.
and i like playing with those,i get them to drop from my finger and stuff like that.(the spider, not the girls)

i had one in my hair once and it dropped down infront of my eyes.

Someone, (I can't remember who), once said spiders are so plentifull that you are rarely more than three feet from a spider. You know, In your walls, under your dash board, in your pc case, behind the blinds, IN YOUR SHOE, etc.

Its a fact that all the time we are wandering around, we are constantly wading through invisible Spiders Webs.
Early in the mornings I can feel them brushing against my face as I go outside!
The sight of them is amazing to see on a cold, Frosty morning!

Wonderful constructions...Clever Spiders!

Yes, nothing quite like the great British countryside.

I walked through a spider's web once... The damn spider was stuck to my chest... It was a big, poisonously coloured, effer too!

Never again  :-[
