Thanksgiving Day Holiday

Postby Flying Trucker » Fri Oct 07, 2011 8:29 am

Goodly morning all... :)

Monday, October 10th is Thanksgiving Day and a happy holiday for many families and friends here in Canada.

Just got this electronic gizmo tweaked with the help of many many great folks here at Simviation.
I say THANKS now to you all... ;)

We will be spending some time at the local bugsmasher field telling tall tales with the rest of the Old Retired Rocking Chair Flying Geezers and then off to the old homestead for a feast.

Many of our children and families will not be here this year as they are on both coasts of Canada and one is away flying for the military while the rest will spend time with family and friends at their own homes.

It has been several years we have not had at least three of our children in the air, working on a holiday, so even though they can't make it here it is good to know they can spend time this year at home with family and friends.

The expense is just not worth the two or three day visit.

And a very happy Thanks Giving to you too Doug ;)
I agree about the cooking smells, the missus made her first ever crumble last night (apple) with lashings of custard, perfect ;D ;D ;D
Only problem was then I had to go out and do some IT work ::)

I love home made apple crumble...we also use the real cream, the one you add your own vanilla extract and whip with a beater... ;)

No spray can whipping cream here... ;D

Hi "H"... :)

There is about three days of left overs to stuff ourselves with after the main feast... ;D

Turkey, Ham, Cottage Roll and I usually cook up a roast of wild game every year at Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving to add to the feast.

Thanksgiving is the fourth Thursday in November in the United States; second Monday in October in Canada; commemorates a feast held in 1621 by the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag.

On its earliest date, U.S. thanksgiving is within a week of my birthdate.
There are still some descendants of the 'Eastern People' in Massachusetts although relations changed after the arrival of the Puritans; the majority of their numbers was gone after 'King Philip's' War. It's good to remember the better times but, I think, little of the Wampanoag is actually known or thought of these days.
Not Wampanoag, but part of my ancestry is of northeastern native stock.

Happy Thanksgiving Doug. :)

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.
