Latest local news says the winds have not really died down as much as expected, and they've issued tornado warnings for overnight.
Things will mostly get "real" in the morning... the streets will be flooded in my neighborhood, and there will be heavy winds and torrential rain.
Tomorrow morning's high tide will be a "moon tide" (Moon between Sun and Earth, which amplifies the gravitational effect on bodies of water), so those living on the water can expect massive flooding, especially if the wind is strong just before the tide peaks. The Passaic River, pretty close to me, is expected to overflow.
Right now it's about normal for a typical rainstorm, but it's merely a prelude. I've seen brief 60-mph gusts here before, and heavy rain, but this could be nasty, as it will go on and on without letting up.
But we're four stories up, my car is parked on sloping high ground away from trees, and I have what I need to be comfortable.
