Would I string you along?

Postby Flying Trucker » Thu May 12, 2011 7:02 pm

Good evening all... :)

Larry "Patchz" post in the Payware Screenshot Forum  Calypso, North to Alaska
got me to thinking about this...

Why do Airforce Pilots wear hats....well I am going to tell you...

The Airforce boys were known as Brylcreem Boys and the Airforce in it's wisdom to stop the headsets from all getting greasy issued hats to the pilots and aircrew...yup... 8-)

Now how many of you out there use these products?

Now would I string you folks along?     ::)     :-X      ;D

I know Alfalfa on the Little Rascals used lard, but I have not used anything since about the seventh or eighth grade. And I don't remember what that was.

I used Brylcreem untill the mid 60s. I can't recall what it smelled like, but artificially scented cold bacon grease comes to mind.  ::) A "little dab will do ya" and your do was indestructable all day long.

Petroleum jelly?

In the AF we all used groom & clean & more [or] less kept our hair under our hats.
Not all used groom & clean but I was surprised at how long my hair actually was once I was discharged and I no longer wore a hat to contain it.

Flying Trucker, the question is not whether or not you'd ever string us along -- but how long the string.

When I was a kid (1960s) my dad made me and my brother get crew cuts at the beginning of summer.

Then we could use something called Butch Stick to make the front stick up - think of a large tube of Chap Stick but uncolored and unflavored.  It may have had a scent.  I don't remember.
"Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!" - Sen. John Blutarsky

You know, this used to be a helluva good country. I don't understand what's gone wrong with it. - George Hanson, 1969

Petroleum jelly?
...not to be confused with Vick's Vaporub! :o

Seems like Butcher's Wax in a stick... was your hair cut or sanded before the polish? :D

Lots of great replies folks...much thanks... :)

I remember when you went into a Barber Shop there were seven or eight bottles of hair tonic on the counter top.

Also several tins of hair dressing.

I remember one such bottle, it was green I believe and called Russian Bear Oil.... :)

We came from a large close family and grandfather would cut our hair.
